I am very much interested in opportunities to teach English to children, adults, and specialists in business and other industries. I hold a bachelor’s degree in writing and literature from the University of San Francisco. I was at the top of my class during my studies and upon completion. I also studied Educational Counseling for one year with an interest in helping students further their educational pursuits.



I have taught English to high tech professionals from China and Japan in Silicon Valley for several years in the 1990s. I was quite successful. My students learned to function well in their jobs in high tech. I kept some on as private students after the courses completed.



Additionally, I have taught elementary school children English for a small Jewish community in northern California in the late 1990s. I find teaching rewarding and fulfilling. I am a lover of language and am exact in how I teach, especially with regard to grammar, in writing and speaking, as well as in conversation. I worked for a few online remote platforms teaching ESL, through VIPkids and a few other platforms, to young Chinese learners. On those platforms, I taught in a dynamic and interactive manner so that children could match vocabulary and grammar with visual and gesticular displays and presentations. I have a background in acting professionally and in small community theaters. I also excelled as a public speaker, winning several awards on the local and statewide levels. Proper diction and enunciation were expected of me, as well as emphatic demonstrations of topics including politics, the environment, sociology, etc.



As a student myself, I excelled in all of my subjects and was at the top of my classes in both high school and at university. I am a parent to an 18-year old student who is studying pre-medicine at the best university in Texas. Raising her, I studied various teaching pedagogies, especially Montessori and Waldorf curriculums. I had a strong interest in neurobiology and the development of the brain particularly as it relates to language in toddlers through teenagers.



Finally, I worked for many years in public schools serving as a substitute teacher. In my professional life, I copy edited manuscripts in preparation for publication for a scholar at the Hoover Institution in Palo Alto, CA. I also copy edited AI papers at Stanford University.



I am sympathetic and empathetic to learning a second or additional language. I grew up bilingual with both Polish and English spoken in my home. In fact, my mother never did learn the English language well so from her I learned Polish and from my father, English. I understood and had compassion for her struggles with trying to learn English. As for knowledge of additional foreign languages, I studied Spanish, German and ancient Greek.



I hope I have described well my experience, knowledge, and interest in teaching the English language to non-native speakers. I am an American, currently living in Warsaw, Poland as an ex patriot.
