IB, A-Level & AP Chemistry Tutoring – Clear, Structured, and Exam-Focused Lessons
I offer individual online Chemistry tutoring for students following international programs such as IB, A-Level, IGCSE, Pre-IB, AP, and U.S. high school courses. My lessons are designed for students who want to understand Chemistry clearly, improve their grades, and feel genuinely prepared for school assessments, mock exams, predicted grades, and final exams.
Chemistry can be a challenging subject because it combines theory, calculations, abstract concepts, experimental skills, and precise written explanations. Many students do not struggle because they are “bad at Chemistry,” but because the material has been explained too quickly, too formally, or without enough connection to exam-style problem solving. My goal is to make Chemistry feel logical, organized, and manageable.
During lessons, I explain difficult topics step by step and always show how the theory is used in real exam questions. We do not simply memorize definitions, reactions, or formulas. Instead, we work on understanding why things happen, how to recognize different types of problems, and how to write answers in a way that matches the expectations of the exam board.
I work with students preparing for IB Chemistry SL and HL, including students who need regular support throughout the course, help before mocks, intensive revision before final exams, or guidance with the Chemistry Internal Assessment. With IB students, I focus not only on content knowledge, but also on command terms, data-based questions, experimental analysis, evaluation, uncertainty, and the style of answers that typically receive full credit.
I also support students taking A-Level Chemistry, including AS and A2 Chemistry, as well as students following major exam boards such as Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, OxfordAQA, AQA, OCR, and WJEC / Eduqas. For A-Level students, lessons often focus on developing strong problem-solving habits, improving written explanations, mastering calculations, understanding organic mechanisms, and learning how to use past papers and mark schemes effectively.
In addition, I teach students preparing for IGCSE Chemistry, GCSE Chemistry, Pre-IB Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and U.S. high school Chemistry. I adapt the level of explanation to the student’s current background, whether they need to rebuild foundations from earlier years or want to work on more advanced exam questions.
The topics we can cover include atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox, electrochemistry, organic chemistry, spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, practical skills, experimental design, data analysis, and exam-style calculations. More importantly, I help students see how these topics are connected, because Chemistry becomes much easier when it is learned as a logical system rather than a collection of separate facts.
Over the years, I have helped many students make real progress in Chemistry. Some came to lessons feeling completely lost in topics such as stoichiometry, equilibrium, electrochemistry, or organic chemistry. After consistent work, they were able to solve past paper questions independently, explain their reasoning clearly, and approach tests with much more confidence. I have also supported students who needed intensive preparation shortly before mocks or final exams, helping them organize their knowledge, identify high-value topics, and improve the way they answered exam questions.
My lessons are especially helpful for students who understand the theory during class but struggle when they face unfamiliar exam questions. This is a very common problem in IB and A-Level Chemistry. That is why I place a strong emphasis on exam technique: reading the question carefully, identifying what is being tested, choosing the correct method, showing working clearly, using precise terminology, and avoiding common mistakes that cost marks.
Chemistry lessons can also be combined with Mathematics and Physics at any level. This is particularly useful for students in demanding international programs, where these subjects often overlap. Many difficulties in Chemistry are connected to mathematical skills such as algebra, logarithms, unit conversions, graph interpretation, proportional reasoning, rates, and data analysis. Strengthening these areas can make a major difference in Chemistry performance.
I can provide combined support in IB Mathematics — including Analysis and Approaches SL/HL and Applications and Interpretation SL/HL — as well as IB Physics SL/HL. I also teach A-Level Mathematics, A-Level Further Mathematics, A-Level Physics, AS and A2 Mathematics and Physics, and courses from Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, OxfordAQA, AQA, OCR, and WJEC / Eduqas.
For students in the U.S. system, I can help with AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, as well as regular and honors high school courses in Chemistry, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, school program, exam board, and current level. Some students need careful explanations from the basics, while others need advanced practice, challenging past paper questions, or targeted preparation for a specific exam. I adjust the pace and structure of the lesson so that the student can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed.
My teaching style is calm, structured, patient, and practical. I focus on clear explanations, active problem solving, and making sure the student understands not only what to do, but why a method works. I also help students develop better study habits, organize revision, and become more independent in their learning.
Lessons are held online using a digital whiteboard and carefully selected materials. We can work with the student’s school materials, textbooks, past papers, exam board resources, IB-style questions, A-Level questions, AP-style problems, or custom practice sets prepared for the student’s needs.
If you are looking for Chemistry tutoring that is clear, organized, and focused on real exam performance — with the option to combine Chemistry with Mathematics or Physics — I will be happy to help. Whether the goal is to rebuild confidence, improve grades, prepare for mocks, secure strong predicted grades, or achieve the best possible result in final exams, the lessons will be planned around the student’s individual needs.
