Opis ogłoszenia

As we head toward the end of the year, I currently have space in my schedule to accommodate roughly 1–2 new individual students or groups of students at Intermediate (CEFR Level B1) and above. I can't wait to meet you!

---

I am an experienced and well-qualified native speaker-originally from Ohio in the U.S.-in my fourteenth year in Poland. But I'm not just some guy who learnt to speak English as a child and needed to find a job while living abroad. I have a strong academic background in Linguistics, I'm a certified teacher, and I have nearly two decades of total teaching experience-teaching English is my vocation. I'm deeply familiar with the particular challenges that English poses for students with a Slavic first language background-and how to overcome those challenges. (Full CV available on request.)

Free consultation/needs analysis –  I look forward to meeting with prospective students to determine your specific language learning needs and whether my lessons are the best solution for satisfying them. Even if my lessons are not a good fit for you, I may still be able to help you find a teacher who is a better match.
Systematic, wholistic approach to grammar – Learn how language really works on a deeper level rather than merely memorising forms by rote.
Articulation coaching – Learn exactly what to do with your mouth to correctly produce the sounds of English-and how those sounds relate to your first language-so that you'll always be understood by other speakers regardless of their language backgrounds.
Extensive writing feedback  – I provide detailed feedback on every writing assignment you complete, covering both accuracy and style. This is supported by my experience with professional copy editing.
Individualised lessons  – I don’t recycle a fixed curriculum-every course is customised in response to the particular language skills and needs of the student.
Learner autonomy – Gain the tools and resources that will enable you to continue your development outside of the classroom.
Online tools – All lessons are supported by use of the Google Classroom online platform. You can see an example by going to the  Google Classroom  webpage and entering this class code: 9qudva
Limited distance learning in a pinch  - I really avoid taking fully remote clients unless there's something irresistibly unique or interesting about the project, but I do have a quality video conferencing setup, and I'm happy to meet regular clients in that format occasionally if, for example, you have to be out of town for work or the kids are home sick. (If you're looking for fully remote lessons, you should really try a dedicated distance learning platform like italki instead, and look for teachers who specialise in making use of online learning tools. But my experience has been that remote teaching requires more work from me while yielding slower progress for students. And perhaps most importantly, meeting through a screen is just less fulfilling, too-don't we all spend enough time in front of devices as it is? If in-person lessons are a viable option for you, I'd strongly encourage you to go that route, whether it's with me or with someone else.)
No long-term contracts   - I don't ask students to sign any kind of long-term contract or to commit in advance to a certain number of lessons. I don't ever want a situation where someone is only still having lessons with me because they've committed to a course that they're not finding valuable. It is my goal to keep you coming back simply by being consistently excellent at what I do. And if you ever stop being satisfied with my lessons, then it's in both of our interests for you to be free to find someone else who can better meet your needs.
Biannual progress reports  –  Available upon request. I don't automatically prepare progress reports for one-to-one students, because I can provide verbal feedback much more regularly in that context, but if you need an official document (e.g., to show an employer), I will be happy to provide one.
Faktura available – All business is conducted professionally and in accordance with Polish law. You will receive invoices, and EBT payment is accepted.

-----

I offer two styles of lesson to meet different needs:

Structured lessons
Instruction is available in the following areas:
- General English lessons built around various texts
- Preparation for standardised exams such as FCE, CAE, CPE, or IELTS
- Remedial lessons to support university studies in English Philology or Comparative Languages
- Lessons built around your professional or academic needs
Curricula for these lessons may utilise coursebooks or rely entirely on authentic texts and my own materials. I work with every student to plan a course that suits your needs.

Unstructured conversational lessons
Conversational lessons entail much less homework and much less structure during the lesson. We will cover vocabulary and grammar spontaneously as they arise in conversation, but I do not prepare detailed lesson plans in advance. After a lesson, I'll often share some quality real-world reading and listening sources that relate to the previous discussion.

Or, mix and match as your needs dictate
With individual lessons, you're in the driver's seat, and I'll do my best to adjust to your needs. Group lessons naturally need more predictability, because students need to be accountable to their classmates, but individual lessons can be highly flexible. If you want to do structured lessons sometimes but need to do unstructured at others, that's no problem. Or we can try to find whatever point along the spectrum in between fully structured and fully unstructured that suits you best.
Group lessons are also an option if you have friends or colleagues you'd like to study with, or if you're a company looking to arrange groups for your staff. This can save each individual student money, and group lessons do have certain advantages. I may be able to arrange classrooms for groups if necessary. Contact me for more details if you're interested in group lessons.

90-minute lessons are the industry standard-and, I'd argue, for good reason-but other arrangements may be made upon request. My current rate per standard 90-minute lesson is 170 zł.

For your convenience, there are multiple options for where to meet:
- In a café or hotel in the city centre
- In your home or office (for locations outside the city centre, a nominal travel fee may be required)
- Classrooms may be available under certain circumstances

Cancellations must be made by 20:00 the day before or full payment may be expected. I reserve the right to discontinue lessons in the event of excessive cancellations.
