About me

My name is Dan and I am an outgoing, native English speaker from Canada who is currently living in Krakow. I am also a TESOL certified English teacher with 7 years of teaching experience in Poland. Moreover, I understand and speak Polish, which I consider to be one of my assets when it comes to teaching lower levels.

Lesson approach

When conducting lessons I prefer to use the communicative approach as I believe that regular practice speaking English with a native speaker is essential for improving and mastering the English language. We can meet at your home or at a quiet cafe in the center to have conversation on any topics of your choice. Based on the preferences of the student, lessons may also be supplemented with various materials such as coursebooks, articles, videos, grammar exercises, etc.

Self-correction method

Another important aspect of my approach is the use of self-correction techniques. Too many teachers ignore the mistakes made by students rathen than guiding students in recognizing mistakes and aiding them in correcting those errors. Self-correction is an effective way for students to improve their English so that they may speak more fluently and confidently.

Free 30 minute trial (at a cafe in the center)

I typically offer a 30 minute trial meeting free of charge to first get to know the student and to let the student get a clearer idea of my personality and teaching style. I believe that 30 minutes is sufficient for determining the student’s level and for recognising his/her needs in learning English. Moreover, it gives the student some exposure to my self-correction approach.
